Kathy Morris holds over 20 years of CFO and Controller experience in multiple high-tech industry sectors, including telecommunications, computer equipment, and semiconductor design and wafer fabrication. As a financial executive for a variety of companies, Ms. Morris has been responsible for budgeting and planning, internal and external financial reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in rapidly changing global business environments. As the Revenue Controller for a publicly traded, multinational telecommunications company, Ms. Morris was responsible for world-wide revenue recognition policies and reporting, implementing procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP. She is currently a part-time CFO for a start-up semiconductor company and a software development company.

In addition to her strong financial management skills, Ms. Morris has provided senior leadership to IT, Purchasing, and Production Control departments. She has successfully led cross functional implementations of ERP systems in multiple industries, introducing business process improvements. In her various executive roles, Ms. Morris has demonstrated effective negotiation skills, including a $4M settlement on a business interruption insurance claim.

Ms. Morris earned her Bachelor's degree in Accounting at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, she is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Professional Career Highlights:

  • From 2001-2009, Ms. Morris served in various financial management roles for Tekelec, a publicly traded, global telecommunications company. As Revenue Controller, she managed worldwide revenue recognition policies and reporting. Originally hired to establish a finance group in North Carolina to support the largest division, she later provided key support in the relocation of the corporate headquarters to North Carolina, including the staffing of the finance management team.
  • From 1999-2001, Ms. Morris served as the Controller for Pliant Systems Inc., formerly known as Broadband Technologies Inc., a publicly traded telecommunications company. During her time at Pliant Systems, she was responsible for managing all finance and accounting activities, assisting the CFO in drafting and filing the company's annual 10-K and quarterly 10-Q reports, leading the implementation of ERP system financial modules.
  • While at Pliant Systems, Ms. Morris improved the preparation for the company's external audits, which resulted in a significant reduction in audit fees. She also developed a capital expenditure tracking system, giving managers real-time access to charges against the budget.
  • In 1998, Ms. Morris served as a financial consultant to Technauts, Inc., a small start-up company, where she prepared and presented monthly operating results and forecasts to the Board of Directors, developed the company's policies and procedures manual to cover all accounting, purchasing, inventory management, and sales processes to eliminate duplicate efforts..
  • Ms. Morris held increasingly responsible roles in financial management for Mitsubishi Semiconductor America, Inc. from 1986-1998. From 1994-1998, she served as Treasurer and Director of Planning and Finance for Mitsubishi Semiconductor America Inc. where she reported directly to the president and was responsible for Finance, Business Planning, Production Control, Information Systems, and Purchasing. While at Mitsubishi Semiconductor America, Ms. Morris directed the preparation of the annual Business Plan for $200 million in revenue and recommended activities to increase profit. She also optimized manufacturing operations by investigating outsourcing opportunities and negotiating with subcontractors for manufacturing services.
